Ortholite footbeds provide highly resilliant support and cushioning for much longer than conventional footbeds while fighting odour with an environmentally friendly biocide treatment. Ortholite quality footbeds utilise a specialist foam material crafted from an open cell polyurethane layer which has been proven to retain 95% of its cushioning after the first year, opposed to the 30% some of EVA footbeds. Ortholite’s open cell foam is also lightweight and breathable, allowing air to pass through the shoe and excess heat and moisture to escape for cool comfort. Treated with an environmentally friendly biocide, Ortholite footbeds are also anti-microbial.
Magnum use the highest density Ortholite – OrthoLite .13, which offers optimum levels of breathability, moisture transport, and anti-microbial function to create a cooler, drier, and healthier environment inside the boot. In addition, the very low compression set of this formulation guarantees that the comfort and integrity of the OrthoLite material will remain consistent throughout the life of the product.

Breathable for a cooler foot
The plasma process enables polymers to infuse the shoes/boots on a sub-microscopic scale. This means that every single fibre is given a layer of water repellent polymer only molecules thick.
The ion-mask™ process means the fibres on even open weave materials become repellent and therefore much less absorbent.
Long term cushioning
Coating every fibre, not just the outer layer, means the entire shoe is treated (including seams and laces). If then used without a booty construction the shoe would be as breathable after the process as it was before.
Given the hydrophobic benefits the treated shoe will gain less weight when used in wet conditions as the materials retain less water.

Recycled rubber content
Only tiny amounts of chemicals are needed, with minimal waste, so the ion-mask process is also highly efficient compared to traditional methods. Equally the process is activated at room temperature and is a solvent-less process making it one of the most climate friendly footwear technologies available.
