The LACF team have just set up at Camp Heumensoord and tell of their journey so far...

"The journey to Nijmegen from Preston began Thursday 16th of July and took 12 hours traveling with several stops and an over night stay at a lovely Holiday inn in Ghent.

We decided to travel via the EuroTunnel rather than the Ferry on the basis that half of camp heumensoord would be travelling on the ferry, (and 2nd LT Lennon gets sea sick!)

Once arrived at Heamensoord we had plenty of admin to sort out but due to advanced planning we were among the first teams on camp so we had pick of the beds etc.

After Meeting Flt Sgt Davies from the Atc (loaned from Surrey Wing)

When then arranged to get our weekly bus passes and decided to experience the much talked about 'Nijemegen Nightlife.' Here we saw live music, street performers and haggling stalls.

On the second day we had plans to visit the Arnhem Memorial and visit Arnhem town. At the memorial, which was so typically raining, we laid a wreath and paid our respects alongside Surrey Wing Atc. After this we went round Arnhem town visiting shops and tasting local foods.

Today we will attend the local swimming baths, later this evening we will the prepare our kit for tomorrow, the first day of marching. This will include all kit prep, and of course an early night ready for a 2AM get up tomorrow morning.

We are all looking forward to a good few days marching and we are all in good spirits."
