I love the look of these trainers and I am pleased the colors reflect the services that keep us safe in our daily lives. I am also pleased that the help for hero's gets a donation. I've had these boots for nearly a year now and they have, for want of a better word, taking an absolute kicking, but are still soldiering on. The first few times I wore them I was mildly concerned that I was going to get a bit of rubbing on the inside of my arch, but thankfully it broke out after a few wears. I've had these trainers through muddy ditches, rivers, hills, road running and numerous other boggy and generally horrible terrain and they're still in one piece. Even after several machine washes on low temperature, nothing has peeled off, nothing has melted off. The Intrepids are comfortable and a good, snug fit without being overly tight, and I can only recommend them as a great purchase and again, for a good cause. They are steeply priced but with 10% going to H4H, and for the sheer durability alone, they're well worth the money! Read Less

The V-Lite Intrepid HPi H4H is a special edition version of the Hi-Tec V-Lite Inifinity Pro HPi in Help For heroes tri-service colours. I think most of us will thank Magnum for supporting H4H and will be happy that they are giving 10% of the sale price to H4H. That wouldn't be a good enough reason to buy them if they were not up to job so I'm happy to report that they are. The technical details are the same as the multicam version which sumo664 reviewed and which I expect most readers will have looked at already ( http://www.kitreviews.com/boots/29-sports-shoes/103-magnum-intrepid-hpi-running-shoes-in-multicam ) It is a striking and quite attractive shoe in the tri-service colours and featuring the H4H 'medal' logo on the heal. The red tab on the heel and the red tab on the upper are in a reflective material but which look red most of the time. Many readers will be familiar with the Silver Shadows which are a reasonably priced but nothing special trainer. The Intrepid are something different altogether. The shoes are brimming with all sorts of technology: Extremely breathable synthetic upper Seamless Upper Zone Engineering upper design ion-maskTM hydrophobic technology Heat seal overlays for lightweight support Thermoplastic Polyurethane (elastomers))Product (TPU) shank support with ESS protection Moulded toe cap Reflective safety details Microfibre collar lining Speed lacing system Comfort Tec contoured sockliner Exclusive Dual Density Vibram Outsole Dual Density 3D Counter Balance Midsole Lightweight TPU shank All of which means you get an extremely lightweight shoe that still supports and protects your foot. The ion-mask hydrophobic technology works at the microscopic level to repel water so that although the shoe doesn't keep your foot dry it doesn't become waterlogged and dries very quickly. I've only had the shoes for a week which under normal circumstances I would not be happy about putting out a review but given sumo664's ringing endorsement and my experience I feel that if there were any issues I'd have noticed them. So what did I do with them? On Tuesday I took them out for a 3 mile jog on road in the damp. My initial reaction was that they feel a bit odd because they are so light. Almost like not having anything on. Wednesday I went for another damp and slightly muddier run along some canal paths for about 3 miles and Thursday was a repeat of Tuesday. On Friday I attended an Armistice Day parade so didn't do any running. On Saturday I attended a Hash House Harriers ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_House_Harriers ) run which was a combination of road and cross country. At one point the shoes were well covered in mud but towards the end of the run we had to wade through a couple of streams that washed most of the mud away. This did allow me to experience how quickly the hydrophobic ion-mask works to get rid of excess water which was very quick. I'm impressed with these. My intention is to keep the H4H ones as indoor/gym shoes and get a pair of the multicam ones for outdoor running around. My only criticism is that I would have got some for the domestic chief of staff but they only go down to size 6. Read Less
