After first wearing these boots, I discovered my heals were quite rubbed and sore. But, with the addition of an extra pair of socks (as I was only wearing one pair of normal black socks) I wore them in and I was able to wear them with one pair of normal socks after only two days. These boots are smart and stay in great condition, they are strong due to a thick sole and the addition of a reinfoced toe and have great athletic ablity (as I discovered when I had to sprint when I missed my bus). I would advise wearing these boots around the house or wherever before wearing them properly to be sure to avoid rubbing, but apart from that, these are great shoes and are definitely worth the money. Not your first choice for dress wear but I actually bought a pair of Active Duty on the back of being so impressed with Magnum's quality of other boots I own. A strange choice for smart shoes for wearing casually but given a lick of polish and complimented with a smart pair of trousers, the Active Duty gave my £200 Oliver Sweeny's a run for their money. Better still, due to the construction of Magnum's sole on this product, I don't feel like I'm skating on ice if the inderside's get wet. If you take into account the fact that if you were to pay a decent amount of money for a quality shoe, it would more than likely have a leather sole (hence the slippery grip), this point becomes more valid. They didn't take any breaking in at all and were comfortable enough having worn them straight out of the box from 8am until the small hours of the following day for my brother's wedding. Read Less

After wearing the boots for several months now, I've identified a few new issues. The shoes are generally constructed very well and the soles are generally the best ones I've ever had on a smarter shoe. The grip is still in amazing condition and I am experiencing no issues with slippage. My first issue is that the lining of the shoes doesn't seem to be as high a standard as the rest of it, as the interior black fabric has worn away and reduced comfort. Perhaps a stronger lining would be required to withstand more physically? My other issue was with the sealing between the rubber sole and the base of the main leather part of the shoe. The rubber-like sealing used seems to have broken away slightly, causing the inside arc of both shoes to be separating from the sole. So, after several months of use, my only suggestions for the improvement of these shoes would be a stronger seal between the leather and rubber of the shoe and a more substantial interior lining. But, if you require a smart but strong shoe, these are definitely a brilliant option! Read Less
