Magnum Spider 8.1 Urban boots test.

I have just received my Spider 8.1 Urban boots and first impressions are 10/10 on the comfort scale !Compartir
I am currently employed as a Search and Rescue Winchman, working in the UK for the Royal Air Force. Due to the nature of my job I have used mainly 3 types of boots in the past: Scarpa Manta GSb for mountain work. MCT (maritime counter terrorism boot) for wet winching - used in the water and also when winching to decks. And finally a goretex Pro boot which are used in virtually all situations from light mountain work to wet winching.
Problems I have encountered with my current boots vary. The Scarpa boots are very very heavy and rigid but on the plus side can be used with crampons in the mountains. The MCT boots offer virtually no ankle support but are excellent in the water due to being ultra lightweight. The Pro boot although being a good allround boot with excellent insultaion tend to be still quite heavy and are very hot to wear in the summer months.
After contacting Magnum and researching their boots I am delighted to be trialing a pair of their Spider Urban boots which they state are aimed at the kind of situation I may find myself in.
I am about to leave on a 7 week detachment to the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic and will certainly put the boots through a serious of challenging tests.
More to follow.
