Laces: Are made out of black single layer braided nylon cord. They are very though and rugged, the friction allows the laces to hold while lacing, as the new lacing system does not have a midway lace locking mechanism. I wonder whether due to their roughness they might bight at the soft leather tongue over time, also the paracord style laces of the WP might fit in with the look of the boot more, but the jury is out on that one.

Lacing System: Very simple plastic system, which is very tough and connected very well to the core. This new system is great as it makes cleaning and shining in the more difficult places a breeze and minimizes potential snagging, also with this system the boots become completely metal free. The metal system on the WP looked nicer but was metallic, harder to clean and polish, and the paint started wearing off after 2 years which created shiny surfaces and thus being more visible at night. However, the WP had a midway lace locking mechanism thus making lacing up a lot easier.
Tongue: A huge improvement since the WP. The WP has a synthetic tongue which just started flaking off after a few months thus making the boots a lot less waterproof. The WPi, however, is completely leather, I am very happy that Magnum has made this improvement. The plastic Magnum logo on the tongue is now completely black on the WPi, making the boot darker, as opposed to the WP which was light grey. The WP did have a loop of leather for the laces to go through, and the WPi does not, but it might be a useless feature as the tongue on the WPI is very firm.

Insoles: I am completely amazed at the improvement between the WP and the WPi, and that is saying a lot as the WP insoles were very nice. The insoles in the WPi are the best insoles I have ever seen. No running shoe insoles or special ones that you can buy separately can compare. There is a four layer system. A synthetic textile top of a nice dirt cyan, a soft black foam layer followed by a firmer grey layer which holds the main shape. On the bottom you have 4 bits of soft foam, 2 at the ball and 2 at the heel of your foot. These are special pieces of foam, red softer ones at the ball, blue firmer ones at the heel, placed at the points of most pressure of the foot, I think they reduce pressure and impact. It has many holes for ventilation, the edges around the heel are smoothed out to prevent blistering. At the heel it is around 3/4” (15mm) thick, at the toe 1/4” (7mm) thick! After a few days I could see that they have completely mounded to my foot you could see all the toes indentations. Also these insoles seem to dry out a lot quicker compared to the WP.
