New Magnum Work Collection coming soon

Since 1982, Magnum has provided high-performance product, unmatched in comfort, technology and value, and used by law enforcement, military, fire, rescue, and emergency medical and service agencies worldwide. Magnum have now broadened the range even further to include the new WORK[FIT] collection, designed specifically for healthcare and food service employees.

Phase 1 of the launch of this new collection took place at the Workwear & Corporate Clothing Show 2011 in Coventry, which provides the latest and greatest in professional clothing, from Emergency Services PPE to industrial workwear, healthcare and hospitality uniforms to corporate tailoring. Since then, the Magnum product team have been working tirelessly to perfect the product, which features the innovative new Magnum slip resistant outsole, Hex-Traction. Specially designed at microscopic levels to give the maximum level of grip and traction, this footwear has been engineered to perform in the most demanding conditions for professionals looking for the next generation of on-the-job footwear.

When focussing on the healthcare market, our research has shown that whilst there is an NHS instruction regarding the use of protective clothing, including aprons, gloves, gowns and masks – there is no directive for footwear. However, the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) do provide some “minimum standards” guidance on uniforms and workwear for employers and employees, stating that footwear should be comfortable, non-slip, have enclosed toes and provide support (sandals, clogs or shoes without heel support may not be deemed suitable when undertaking patient handling). The Department of Health (DoH) also offer some guidance for NHS employers/employees, advising that it is “good practice” to wear soft-soled shoes (which reduce noise in ward) that are closed over the foot and toes, as closed shoes offer protection from spills and dropped objects, and open shoes risk injury or contamination for staff.

For phase 2 of the WORK[FIT] collection launch, Magnum attended the Royal College of Nursing Congress Exhibition in Harrogate (May 2012) to promote the Anti-Slipper HPi shoe, which adheres to both the RCN’s minimum standards guidance and the DoH’s good practice advice.
