Well, as i was quite upset with the tearing at the seams, i had it sent back to the retailer, who's having it sent back to Magnum's. If found faulty, i will get a replacement.

One thing i value second to that of actual quality of the product is customer service, and i can say that Magnum has that squared away. I was contacted by several parties of Magnum, RYCA, the Singapore branch that's closest to us, and twice by rep's from Magnum UK, and i must say, they do care about their customers.

I am told that the pair i had was probably faulty, and i will be waiting for word on this, as according to the retailer, the item should arrive at Magnum's doorstep within a day or so.

I am looking forward to receiving a replacement as this boot is actually quite a joy to wear.

    Conclusion -

I like the sole's the most. It has got to be the quietest thing i've ever had, and i can never reiterate this enough. The grip is outstanding, on surfaces i'm used to slipping on, i can confidently trot across, it's a sure win on the wet surfaces.

The flex that you get from the boots is pretty good. Although i rarely take a knee, you can note that it does flex when you need it to. HOWEVER, i've got the boots to thank as it did save me from busting up my ankle on a couple occasions.

Coming from a rather humid climate, i've come to appreciate the increased breathability you get from the mix of cordura. The thing dries up extremely fast, just walk around for about 20 minutes, change your socks and you're good to go. BUT, my favorite part was the leather upper. Short of submerging my foot in water, it kept me dry and comfortable.

I did get some hotspots at the beginning of the break-in process, but that went away pretty fast. Also, it helps if you have those hiking socks like 1000mile socks or something.

Finally, the comfort. That's something you notice almost immediately. I could stand in them for 16 hours no problem (longest i wore them at a time was 12 hours). I owe it to the arch support. I never did get a single blister while having it, partially thanks to a good pair of socks too.

The laces aren't so bad. I had no trouble lacing mine up. Granted, it is a little rough, and the callous on my hand is a little thicker than most peoples, but i've kinda found a liking to it. IF you tighten your laces a little too much, they tend to cut blood circulation off, and all you need is for the laces to loosen up a lil, and these do. After walking a little, the laces expand slightly, and sit nicely where it's not too tight, and not too loose.

Now that i've shipped the boots back for inspection, i'm left bootless (i still have my trusty hi-tec's, but they aren't 8 inchers) and i definitely feel the absence, but i definitely can't wait for their return.

Well, that's it. I will write a final closure post when i receive my boots again! Until then, my feet feel absolutely naked with nothing but dress shoes on for work.

    Cheers!
