Week one of wearing my Spider 8.1 Urban’s.Share
So from the very beginning, opening the box we find a sparkling pair of boots packed to the usual high standard.
The first thing that struck me was the laces, which appeared to be quite thin.
The second thing I noticed was what appeared to be quite noticeable excess glue marks around various seams on both boots, particularly the left boot.
Whilst its not a problem as such it stood out somewhat.
Lacing the boots up was straightforward enough, but tying the laces for the first time seemed a bit haphazard due to rigidity of the combined new boot and stiff laces.
The laces were having to be re tied quite regularly for the first couple of days as they worked loose as the boots wore in.
The lower boot fitted very well and was comfortable from the start, however the upper boot from the ankle upwards I found to be particularly rigid and slightly uncomfortable.
I haven’t noticed this previously on other Magnum boots.
A particular problem for me was the moulding on the upper part of the tongue because of its rigidity seemed to make it very difficult to fasten the laces properly.
I have worn the boots for a week now, although I haven’t given them much of a run out as I was finding them to take a lot longer to wear in than usual.
That said they are indeed wearing in now and are becoming more comfortable.
The boots are very light but have a very sturdy feel to them.
Could the boot be improved, I’m not sure it could as there isn’t really anything wrong with it, once worn in.
My only observation would be really the issues relating to the laces, which I guess will sort themselves out once they see a little more use and become worn a little more.
I’m pleased to say this is another great boot from Magnum made to the usual high standards.
I’m looking forward to seeing how they perform in the next couple weeks when I will be doing a fair bit of running around.
