After being issued with these, my first impression was that they had a hard plastic feel to the leather, which in turn lead to an uncomfortable first week of wear. However a bit of effort with the leather treatment and this has resulted in a comfy boot with the bonus that the coating on the leather leaves a high gloss finish.
I do have a couple of issues though. The tongue which has been mentioned before is only stitched half way up the boot, not an issue in the urban environment but walking through long wet grass can let a bit of water in.
Second, the tread blocks in the heel area are already starting to break down at the impact area of the foot strike. This isn't good after less than a months wear. This is a shame as the overall grip is good on both wet and dry tarmac and also on grass. Thick wet mud can clog the tread quickly though. Also the boot gives a very quiet foot strike, enabling me to approach and assess a situation without announcing my presence.
Overall a good urban boot, spoiled by the degradation of the tread blocks. I couldn't recommend these boots yet as I'm hoping this fault doesn't develop further.
