-My Background and use of bootsCompartir
I am a 19 year old student, who spends alot of time volunteering for a first aid charity covering many different events. These can be, and are in differing areas. One day you are in a field covering a cross country (mud!) the next your in a stadium standing still on concrete for 2 hours. These are what I purchased these boots for. A main factor for buying these boots were the Composite Toe protection, advised to have when you work with trolley beds. Also the reviews for comfort and the general comfort that you come to expect from any magnum boot. I have had them for 3 months now.
On arrival these boots gave off good first impressions. Nice padding of the tongue and upper part of the boot, the M-PACT contoured sockliner, and the overall aesthetics of the boots including the kick pad. One thing worried me and that is the way the lace loops have been done half way up at the ankle support section. While 98% of the boot is laced through very durable looking (Plastic/Composite) loops, this ankle section has one fairly thin piece of material to act as the loop on either side for this one section. The concern is over time with the rubbing of the laces that it would become weak and snap. Apart from that I was very pleased.
First time using them, was on some walks with the dog, break them in etc. They fitted very well, still had room to let my toes be free. Initially, the back of my heels were in agony but I persevered and it slowly became better. I found that while most of the inside of the boot is padded to some extent, at the back where the back of the heel ends up against, there's no padding. From other reviews it was talked how fast and easy it was to break in. It took me a long time for some reason to break these boots in. Maybe this was something I was doing wrong. The comfort for the sole of the feet was excellent. Really like the M-Pact sockliner.
-3 Months On
Still impressed with the boots. All still in one piece and theirs not much wear on these material ankle loops which is good news. The heel agony is no where near as bad as it has been but its still a small issue. The laces are good and do their job, but doing the boots up to the tightness you wish can be painful for your hands. They have kept my feet dry and safe (been quite a few times ive been glad to have the toe protection!) and its been so easy to clean them. The sole of the boots is amazing. Really good grip and the kick pad has really come in handy.
These have been the best boots I have owned. My only complaint is the issue with the back of my heels where i have always got this slight pain from having no padding in that area. That is the only reason the boots lose a star for comfort. While their has been little wear on the ankle support loops for the laces, it's without a doubt a weak spot that I am always worrying about when I see them. The only reason the boots lose a star for durability. They have very much, been fit for the purpose I use them for and the fit is perfect. Would recommend these for anyone, but especially those in the Paramedic, First Aider, and First Responder fields.
