All good despite minor hiccup.

I received my Spider 8.1's a couple of weeks ago and straight out of the box, what was immediately apparent was the light weight. Upon donning the boots I found them to be extremely comfortable and 'slipper like' to wear. Walking feels positive and 'planted'.
In Joe's previous review of these boots he attests to the excellent all round usefulness of the spider 8.1's in military type applications. I cannot attest to such rugged experience, however, Given the recent bad weather I can attest to the boots awesome grip on wet tiled floors in a shopping centre. Also on mildly icy and snowy footpaths, the grip was adequate.
When the snow became slush, about 2" deep max, the boots did not become dirty and soaked with road scum.
With a pair of thick winter thermal boot socks underneath, my feet were also toasty warm.
My boots are a 10, (UK), ( I usually fit a 9 1/2)
But, I wanted the option of a little space inside, as a result the boots do not pinch or rub and the ample padding gives the boot a cushioned 'snug' feel.
after the 4th time of wearing the boots, (in non military or outdoor pursuits), I noticed on one boot, on the upper, on the thin vertical strip of leather in between the rubber/plastic section with the eyelets and the woven material at the side above the ankle, a small tear/rip had appeared. Upon inspection of the other boot, I found an almost identical tear in almost the same place, but curiously on the same side as the 1st boot, ie on both left sides.
After reading reviews such as Joe's and others online, that attested to the boots ruggedness and capability of withstanding heavy use, I concluded that this must be an isolated anomaly. Especially given the fact that these boots had been subjected to nothing harsher than shopping!
Common sense and an understanding of stresses and the properties of materials, would imply that perhaps they had been laced up at the top using excessive force. This however was not the case, I used the same amount of firm 'pull' on the laces as with any other of my boots, but nothing that could be considered outside of the design limitations of the boots.
After an email and phone call with the customer service manager, this matter has now been amicably rectified, by way of a replacement pair. Much to my satisfaction. I do strongly commend Magnum on their excellent customer service.
Value for Money;
Given this slight hiccup, I would still maintain that these boots are good value for money, I did get them at the discounted price of
